I finally started back up...

I feel soooo guilty because I haven't run or anything since my 5k. That's 3 weeks. No weight gained, but that's just bad. Bad, bad, bad. Anyway, I renewed my membership at the local gym today because I finally got the money (and running outside isn't going to happen when it's 15 degrees outside) and worked out for an hour and a half. 37 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes on the elliptical, and about 25 minutes of weight lifting. My legs are a *little* sore from all that cardio. I got to thinking though. What is the difference in my lifestyle now and when I was in high school? I figured it out. 30 minute workouts aren't going to make a difference. I was doing like 2 hour practices 5 days a week throughout the entire school year, then swimming during the summer. So I figured I have to spend more time in the gym and give it a lot of effort!!! So that's what I'll do. When I'm off work or get off at 3 I'll do an hour and a half to 2 hours in the gym that day and if I work until 7 then I'll do 45min to an hour at the gym just doing cardio. I tend to work every other day during breaks from school so that'll probably work best for me with resting between weight lifting sessions. I'll just have to bring clothes with me so I can just change when I get to the gym and THEN go home. Keep your fingers crossed about me sticking to my plan. I need to stick with this running thing I re-discovered.

Starting over...

I fell off the workout wagon thanks to Thanksgiving and finals. Those aren't great excuses, but I think I'll use this blog to encourage myself and also as a general blog.

Good news: With the exception of completing my ATI tests for school, I am finished with my 3rd semester of nursing school out of 4. Just one semester left until I am finished with my ADN. I won't be finished with school however. I'll continue in my educational endeavor by pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing. I would really love to teach clinicals someday.

Workouts: It's cold here in my good ol' state of Oklahoma. One day it's 70 degress, the next it's 30 with a windchill of 15 and a light snow. No exaggeration in that statement either. Because of that, I'm going to renew my membership at the local gym tomorrow and run on a treadmill and lift weights. I guess I'm shifting my goals from weight loss to focusing on becoming healthy.

I also read a blog about a sweet family whose daughter is fighting leukemia. My prayers are with that young girl and her family and I wish them a wonderful Christmas season filled with love, energy, smiles and laughter. That 3 year old girl is such an inspiration. Please pray for her too.

With that said, I'm going to go watch Heroes.
